Framagraphic 36th Anniversary- September, 2012

September 2012 marks Framagraphic Picture Framing and Print Gallery’s 36th Anniversary…and we are celebrating!  Thirty six years at the same location on Broadway at Spruce. Owner Gerry Giroux is having an exhibition of his photographs from September 14th to October 13th, with the opening reception on Thursday September 13th from 6:30 to 9:30 pm at the store. We are inviting all of our past, present, and future customers to come out and celebrate with us. Please RSVP to the store by September 12th: 604-738-0017, or just come in that evening.

“Giroux spent 3-and-a-half years teaching English in Taiwan, photographing and documenting his travels throughout Asia, while saving money in order to complete a 3,600 km canoe trip through British Columbia, Alberta and the Northwest Territories. From Hudson’s Hope, BC on the Peace River, Giroux and his companion set off for Inuvik, NWT at the mouth of the Mackenzie River, near the Arctic Ocean. For 66 days Giroux and his canoeing partner paddled the Peace and Slave Rivers, Great Slave Lake and the entire length of the Mackenzie, Canada’s longest river. It soon became clear how compounded the voyage truly was. Traveling the continent’s waterways began its first mile in Taiwan.”

Works include big bright photos of BC and Taiwan printed on canvas and aluminum, mounted on plexi-glass or framed the old fashioned way.

This shot was taken this spring right in front of the Point Grey Golf and Country Club in Vancouver -it’s one of the biggest and fattest cherry blossoms, or sakura, of the season. By Gerry Giroux.

Of course it wouldn’t be a celebration without gifts! Our gift to you, from September 13th until September 30th is a 36% discount on a selection of our store’s collection of limited edition prints and artwork.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
